Sufrimiento Moral: una revisión de literatura

Resumen

Objetivo principal: Integrar las definiciones identificadas en la literatura sobre sufrimiento moral y el impacto que tiene en la calidad de cuidados prestados. Metodología: En enero de 2020 se realizó una búsqueda en EBSCO, SAGE journals, PubMed, Redalyc, SciELO y CUIDEN. Se consideraron estudios publicados del 01 de enero del 2015 al 31 de diciembre del 2019. Resultados principales: Se extrajeron los datos de 22 estudios, la mayoría de los estudios mencionan el concepto original adoptado por el filósofo Jameton, de los estudios que incluyen su mención, solamente tres están a favor de conservar la definición conceptual, los demás coinciden en ampliarla, pero cada autor utiliza una diferente. De ellos, 18 explican el impacto negativo que tiene el fenómeno en la calidad de cuidados prestados. Conclusión principal: Es necesario profundizar las búsquedas para esclarecer las dudas que todavía se tienen respecto al sufrimiento moral.

Abstract

Objective: To integrate the definitions identified in the literature on moral distress and the impact it has on the quality of care provided. Methods: In January 2020 a research was made on EBSCO, SAGE journals, PubMed, Redalyc, SciELO and CUIDEN. Studies published from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2019 were considered. Results: Data was extracted from 22 studies, most studies mention the original concept adopted by the philosopher Jameton, of the studies that include its mention, only four are in favor of keeping the conceptual definition, the others agree to extend it, but each author uses a different ones. Of these, 18 explain the negative impact that the phenomenon has on the quality of care provided. Conclusions: It is necessary to deepen the searches to clarify the doubts that still exist regarding moral distress.
