Comunicación en el quirófano. Revisión bibliográfica del estado actual, efectos y factores relacionados

Resumen

Objetivo: Explorar qué se conoce sobre la comunicación entre miembros del equipo quirúrgico y sus aspectos relacionados. Metodología: Revisión bibliográfica usando las bases de datos PUBMED, DIALNET, CINAHL SCIELO, CUIDEN y SCOPUS. Selección de artículos según objetivos establecidos, escogiendo sólo revisiones o artículos originales en inglés o español y con calidad metodológica moderada o alta, utilizando la Guía práctica de lectura crítica de los artículos científicos originales en Ciencias de la salud y antigüedad inferior a 5 años. Resultados: En la búsqueda inicial se obtuvieron 2102 artículos. Sólo 20 cumplieron los criterios para formar parte de esta revisión: 2 revisiones bibliográficas, un estudio experimental, 17 estudios observacionales. Conclusiones: La mala comunicación está relacionada con peores resultados. Existen diferentes patrones de comunicación entre profesionales quirúrgicos y muchos conducen a errores. Evitar ruidos y distracciones, realizar reuniones prequirúrgicas, recoger datos del caso en una pizarra, establecer equipos fijos, mejorar habilidades no técnicas y para el manejo de conflictos, y monitorizar la comunicación en quirófano, son algunos factores que podrían contribuir a su mejora.

Abstract

Objective: To discover the main findings about communication between the members of the surgical team and its related factors. Methods: A review of the scientific literature was carried in PUBMED, DIALNET, CINAHL SCIELO, CUIDEN and SCOPUS databases. The articles were selected according to the established objectives, including those that were less than 5 years old, which were reviews or original articles in English or Spanish and with moderate or high methodological quality, using the Practical Guide for critical reading of original scientific articles in health sciences. Results: Initially, 2102 articles were obtained from the search. Only 20 met the inclusion criteria to be included in this review: 2 bibliographic reviews, an experimental study and 17 observational studies. Conclusions: Poor communication is related worse results in the operating room. There are different communication patterns among surgery room professionals, many of which contribute to errors. Avoiding noise and distractions, meetings before the surgery, writing down the case information on a blackboard, establishing permanent staff, improving nontechnical and conflict management skills, and monitoring communication in the operating room are all some factors that could contribute to its improvement.
