Resumen

Objetivo: Describir el desarrollo de una teoría de rango medio “Empoderamiento para el autocuidado de la diabetes tipo 2”. Método: La teoría de medio rango se fundamenta en la teoría general de autocuidado de Orem enfocándose en el déficit. Se desarrolló a partir de la propuesta metodológica de Fawcett, donde los vínculos entre los conceptos de la teoría respetan la estructura jerárquica del conocimiento de enfermería, además de la formalización de las estructuras conceptual-teórico-empírica, propuesta por el autor. Resultados: Se obtuvo la identificación, clasificación, organización de las proposiciones y construcción de diagramas de la teoría “Empoderamiento para el autocuidado de la diabetes tipo 2”. Conclusiones: La teoría de rango medio tiene la capacidad de construir ciencia de enfermería mediante la integración de la teoría de enfermería existente con el conocimiento empírico. Se sugiere probar la teoría de rango medio con diseños de estudios cuasi-experimentales y experimentales.

Abstract

Objective: To describe the development of a mid-range theory "Empowerment for self-care of type 2 diabetes. Method: The mid-range theory have as a theoretical underpinings the self-care theory in nursing to focus in deficit from Orem. It was derived with Fawcett's meth-od proposal, where the links between the theory concepts follows the hierarchical nursing acknowledge, and formalization of conceptual-theoretical-empirical structures, proposed by the author. Results: We obtain the identification, classification, propositions organization, and diagrams constructions of the mid-range theory develop “Empowerment for the type 2 diabetes self-care. Conclusions: The mid-range theory is able to contribute to build nursing science by integrating nursing theory existing with empirical knowledge. As a suggest to test the mid-range theory through quasi-experimental and experimental study designs.
