Resumen

El suicidio es un problema potencial para la salud pública siendo considerado una causa de muerte externa principal, frecuentemente descuidado, sustentado bajo mitos, estigmas y tabúes, además de la implementación limitada de estrategias efectivas de prevención para su erradicación. Los orígenes del suicidio se remiten a la prehistoria, donde el ser humano lo consideraba como un acto de sacrificio para favorecer los recursos de la sociedad, siendo realizado principalmente por los ancianos, personas con movilidad limitada, el padecimiento de una enfermedad crónica o con un mal control del dolor [Fragmento de texto].
