Resumen

Objetivo principal: En el presente trabajo se pretende estudiar la influencia del apoyo social y la competencia personal de los pacientes sobre el autoestigma y la satisfacción con la vida ante un diagnóstico psiquiátrico. Metodología: Se presenta un estudio correlacional, poniéndose a prueba un modelo de mediación moderada. Los participantes son 47 pacientes en seguimiento en el centro de salud mental de Soria con diagnóstico de más de 6 meses de esquizofrenia, trastorno esquizotípico o trastorno delirante. Resultados principales: Para el análisis de los datos se utilizó SMARTPLS 4. Los resultados muestran que el autoestigma está relacionado directa y negativamente con la satisfacción, actuando el apoyo social como mediador. A su vez, la competencia personal modera significativamente la relación entre el apoyo social y la satisfacción. Conclusión principal: Se considera relevante la intervención sobre determinadas variables mediadoras para mejorar la satisfacción vital en enfermos mentales en presencia de autoestigma.

Abstract

Objective: We aim to study the influence of social support and personal competence on self-stigma and satisfaction with life in the face of a psychiatric diagnosis. Methods: We present a correlational study in which a model of moderate mediation is tested. Forty-seven patients (in active treatment) diagnosed with a chronic psychotic disorder were chosen from the out-patient unit in Soria, Spain. Results: SMARTPLS 4 was used to perform the structural equation model. The results show that self-stigma is significantly and negatively related to life satisfaction, and that social support mediates the relationship between self-stigma and life satisfaction. In addition, a significant moderation effect is detected, indicating that, at different levels of perceived personal competence, the lower the social support, the lower the life satisfaction of the mentally ill. Conclusions: The intervention on certain mediating variables is considered relevant to improve life satisfaction in mentally ill patients in the presence of self-stigma.
