Resumen

Objetivo: Reflexionar sobre los criterios que deben de considerarse para estipular quién se considera “autor” y el orden de autoría de los productos que emanen de una tesis de grado, así como las situaciones para retirar la coautoría. Desarrollo: La autoría de un artículo científico es un imperativo ético, que implica un proceso de reconocimiento y compromiso respecto a la contribución sustancial al desarrollo de una tesis. Existen diferentes escenarios que ameritan visibilizar los diferentes tipos de autores, las recomendaciones para la designación de la autoría, los acuerdos preliminares y las situaciones en donde la autoría puede retirarse. Conclusión: Solo se es coautor, si se trabajó activamente en el proceso de la investigación y en la redacción del manuscrito. Se considera mala práctica, aceptar autores que no aportaron más que la opinión de forma ocasional. Si se presentan discrepancias, se debe consultar al Comité de Ética, Investigación o Bioética.

Abstract

Objective: To think about the criteria that should be considered when deciding who is considered the “author” and the order of authorship of the products that come from a thesis, as well as the situations in which co-authorship should be withdrawn. Development: The authorship of a scientific article is an ethical imperative, which involves a process of recognition and commitment to the substantial contribution to the development of a thesis. There are different scenarios that warrant highlighting the different types of authors, recommendations for the designation of authorship, preliminary agreements, and situations in which authorship can be withdrawn.  Conclusion: One is only a co-author if one actively participated in the research process and in the writing of the manuscript. It is considered bad practice to accept authors who contributed nothing more than occasional opinions. If discrepancies arise, the Ethics, Research, or Bioethics Committee should be consulted.
