Resumen

Objetivo principal: determinar de la viabilidad y aceptabilidad de la Intervención Prostactive para el automanejo de síntomas en personas con cáncer de próstata en tratamiento. Metodología: Este estudio utilizó un diseño de pretest y postest de un grupo. Se siguió la metodología propuesta por Sidani y Braden en la que se realiza el diseño de la intervención, posteriormente se evaluó la factibilidad con 7 expertos y posteriormente se evalúa la aceptabilidad y factibilidad aplicando la intervención a 9 participantes con la aplicación de escalas de autoeficacia, EPIC26 Y FACIT-P. Resultados principales: se identificó una adecuada aceptabilidad y factibilidad de la Intervención Prostactive; los participantes encontraron clara y útil la intervención además que adquirieron conocimientos y habilidades para el automanejo de síntomas, se identificó una mejoría en síntomas urinarios y emocionales. Conclusión principal: el uso de la intervención Prostactive muestra ser factible y aceptable, se debe continuar con la fase 3.

Abstract

Objective: to determine the feasibility and acceptability of the Prostactive Intervention for symptom self-management in people with prostate cancer undergoing treatment. Methos: This study used a one-group pretest and posttest design. The methodology proposed by Sidani and Braden was followed, in which the intervention design was carried out, the feasibility was subsequently evaluated with 7 experts and subsequently the acceptability and feasibility were evaluated by applying the intervention to 9 participants with the application of self-efficacy scales, EPIC26 and FACIT-P. Results: adequate acceptability and feasibility of the Prostactive Intervention was identified; participants found the intervention clear and useful, and they also acquired knowledge and skills for symptom self-management; an improvement in urinary and emotional symptoms was identified. Conclusion: the use of the Prostactive intervention is shown to be feasible and acceptable, it should continue with phase 3.
