Resumen

Objetivo principal: Describir exhaustivamente la experiencia de ser donante renal altruista a extraños desde la perspectiva del propio sujeto. Metodología: Estudio cualitativo, con enfoque fenomenológico, mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas. El análisis se realizó mediante el método de Colaizzi. Resultados principales: Del análisis de los discursos emergieron dos dimensiones: Hacer un bien a otros o Eros, que recogía todos aquellos aspectos que pudieron haber facilitado la donación altruista, versus No hacerse un bien a si mismo o Thanos, que incluyó aspectos más negativos y destructivos del proceso que pudieron haberla impedido o dificultado. Se asociaron 3 categorías: Toma de la decisión, Factores individuales y Factores contextuales o socioculturales. Conclusión principal: Desvelar las motivaciones, vivencias e inquietudes de estos donantes, nos ha ayudado a conocer sus necesidades para así poder enfocar esfuerzos en su cuidado, así como mejorar el proceso de donación.

Abstract

Objective: Comprehensively describe the experience of being an altruistic kidney donor to strangers from the subject's own perspective. Methods: Qualitative study, with a phenomenological approach, using semi-structured interviews. The analysis was carried out using Colaizzi's method. Results: Two dimensions emerged from the analysis of the discourses: Doing good to others or Eros, which included all those aspects that could have facilitated altruistic donation, versus Not doing good to oneself or Thanos, which included more negative and destructive aspects of the process that could have prevented or hindered it. Three categories were associated: decision making, individual factors and contextual or sociocultural factors. Conclusions: Revealing the motivations, experiences and concerns of these donors has helped us to understand their needs in order to focus our efforts on their care, as well as to improve the donation process.
